Glass Sauna Doors

Sauna doors are typically 73 to 75 inches tall instead of the standard 80 inches because the upper few inches of a sauna's air is the hottest. A shorter door keeps heat from escaping each time you open it and helps maintain even temperatures throughout the room.

No, when properly sealed. Tempered glass is a poor heat conductor on its own, and a tight pre-hung jamb prevents drafts at the edges. A well-fitted all-glass door retains heat as effectively as a solid wood door, with the added benefit of natural light and visibility.

Yes. Tempered glass is heat-treated to withstand the extreme temperatures and rapid temperature changes inside a sauna without cracking or shattering. If tempered glass ever does fail, it breaks into small, blunt pieces instead of sharp shards, which is why it's required for sauna and shower doors.

No. The handle pairs anodized black metal with a black-painted wood grip, and the wood section is what you actually hold and it will be facing the inside. Wood doesn't conduct heat the way bare metal does, so the grip stays comfortable whether your hands are dry or damp, even during long sauna sessions.

Alder is a dense, moisture-resistant hardwood that handles high heat and humidity without warping, swelling, or degrading over time. It also takes finishes well and ages naturally with the rest of the sauna. Cheaper softwood frames warp within a few seasons in sauna conditions; alder lasts for years.

For the 24" x 73" door, the rough opening should be 28⅛" x 76", and the door frame depth is 3⅝". The door comes pre-hung in the alder jamb, so once the rough opening is sized correctly, installation only requires shimming the jamb and securing it in place.

Sauna doors are commonly narrower and shorter than a house door, often around a 24" wide panel and about 73" tall, to help trap heat. Our glass sauna doors use a 24" x 73" glass panel in a 27" x 74" frame. There is no single legal standard, so always size the door to your framed rough opening rather than assuming a house-door size.

Sauna doors open outward, and that is a safety standard, not a preference. An outward-opening door can never be blocked by someone inside and cannot jam shut from heat expansion, so anyone in the sauna can always push straight out. Every door in this collection opens outward and has no lock.
